Top 5 Must Haves for Fall Camping in MN

Fall in Minnesota is the best. Crisp air and beautiful trees. It is by far, my favorite season for hiking. The cooler temperatures allow me to hike comfortably when I gear up accordingly. When hiking this fall be sure to layer clothing and to always have rain gear at hand.

  1. Vest. The vest is perfect for Fall MN days. It is made for all those days that you start out hiking and its 30 degrees and within an hour it is 60 degrees. The vest is a great way to keep your core warm  when you know that your hike is going to get your blood pumping and warm you up quick. It is best for those you who can moderate their body temp very well. You know who you are…you sleep with one leg out of you sleeping bag.
  2. Wool socks with sandals. Now this is a MN staple. It is for those who want to hold on to those last days of summer until the snow flies. Chacos or Birkenstocks are the best sandals to wear with wool socks. Important Note: It has to be wool socks to be cool! Do not wear cotton socks with sandals.
  3. Knit Hat- A knit hat is a 3- season necessity in Minnesota. You could even where one in the middle of July and people wouldn't think twice about it.
  4. Lake Girl Hoodie- Perfect to wear around the campfire! This is a must have for all those Moms who want the world to know that “Lake Life” isn’t just for the summer. “Lake Life” is a year round lifestyle.
  5. Fanny Pack with hand warmer. The fanny pack hand warmer is perfect for fall camping. Your gloveless hands are able to camp cook, set up tents, and start fires and you can sneak your hands in your fanny pack warmer for a quick warm up. It isn’’t cold enough to be wearing gloves but it is nice to have a warm up.
