Position Title: Assistant Manager

Job Description:

Join us at Janky Gear as an Assistant Manager, where you'll play a pivotal role in driving sales, promoting reuse culture, and making a positive impact on the environment. We are looking for a retail enthusiast with a strong commitment to sustainability and a knack for leadership to join our team. This position is a part time role of 20-25 hours per week. As Janky Gear continues to grow and expand, there may be opportunities for additional hours. The hourly pay for the Assistant Manager position is $17 per hour.

Retail Operations Management:

  • Assist in overseeing day-to-day store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash management, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment.
  • Collaborate with the owners to implement store policies and procedures that align with our mission of promoting reuse culture and environmental stewardship.

Customer Engagement and Online Sales Support:

  • Provide exceptional customer service and cultivate positive relationships with customers to enhance their shopping experience.
  • Utilize your retail expertise to assist customers in finding the perfect gear for their outdoor adventures while promoting the benefits of consignment and reuse.
  • Support online sales by efficiently processing and packaging orders, ensuring timely delivery and customer satisfaction with their online purchases.

Sales and Revenue Generation:

  • Support sales initiatives and promotional events to drive store traffic and increase revenue.
  • Utilize your retail experience to identify sales opportunities, analyze sales trends, and implement strategies to optimize sales performance.
  • Leverage social media platforms, email campaigns, and other digital marketing channels to enhance brand visibility, engage customers, and promote special events and promotions.
  • Assist in creating compelling content and creative campaigns that resonate with our target audience and drive online and in-store traffic

Inventory Management:

  • Assist in managing inventory levels, including receiving, inspecting, and pricing consignment items.
  • Collaborate with the owners to ensure accurate inventory records, track sales trends, and implement pricing strategies to maximize profitability.

Consignment Process:

  • Educate customers on the consignment process and guidelines, and assist them in consigning their gently used outdoor gear and apparel.
  • Evaluate incoming consignment items based on quality, condition, and market demand, and set competitive prices to attract buyers.

Staff Supervision and Training:

  • Assist in training and supervising store staff, providing guidance, feedback, and support to ensure high levels of performance and customer service.
  • Help foster a positive and inclusive work environment where team members feel valued and motivated to succeed.

  • Proven experience in retail management with excellent customer service skills, preferably in the outdoor gear or sporting goods industry.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong self-motivation and initiative.
  • Proficient in using social media platforms and digital marketing tools to promote brand visibility and engage customers effectively.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Job Description:
Are you passionate about the outdoors and interested in joining a dynamic retail team? Janky Gear is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to fill the role of Part-Time Sales/Inventory Associate. In this position, you will play a key role in providing exceptional customer service, managing inventory, and maintaining a welcoming store environment for outdoor enthusiasts. This position is a part time role of 5 -15, with the potential for more hours.

Customer Service:

  • Greet customers warmly and assist them in finding products, answering inquiries, and providing knowledgeable assistance regarding outdoor gear.
  • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using our point-of-sale system, ensuring a seamless checkout experience for customers.

Inventory Management:

  • Receive incoming consignment items, inspect them for quality and condition, and label and price items according to store guidelines.
  • Organize and maintain inventory displays to ensure items are easily accessible and visually appealing for customers.


  • Assist in creating visually appealing displays to showcase featured products and promotions, contributing to increased sales and customer engagement.
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify management of low stock or popular items in need of replenishment, ensuring a well-stocked and attractive store environment.

Store Maintenance:

  • Keep the store clean, organized, and clutter-free throughout shifts, contributing to a positive shopping experience for customers.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and dusting as needed to maintain a safe and inviting store environment.

Team Support:

  • Collaborate with team members to achieve sales targets and provide excellent customer service, communicating effectively with colleagues and management regarding inventory needs and customer feedback.
  • Assist in training new team members as needed, sharing your knowledge and expertise to support their success in the role.


  • Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.
  • Passion for outdoor activities and knowledge of outdoor gear and equipment.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
