Meet Megan Larkin

 

Hello! My name is Megan Larkin and I am very excited to be offering repair services at Janky Gear! I have been a professional seamstress for 20 years, making everything from wedding dresses and opera costumes to curtains and furniture slipcovers. I have always enjoyed altering and repairing well-loved garments and gear. In the interest of environmental sustainability, and for sentimental and financial reasons, I think it is important to extend the life of clothing and equipment when possible. Let’s keep our used gear out of the landfill and add a little more character in the process with a repair!

What We Offer

Clothing Repairs

  • Rips and Tears: We can mend those unsightly rips or tears in jackets, pants, and more.
  • Zipper Fixes: Broken zippers? No problem! We’ll get them working smoothly again.

Gear Repairs

  • Backpacks and Tents: We specialize in fixing zippers, tears, and other damage to help your gear last longer.
  • Reinforcements: Add patches or reinforcements to high-wear areas for extra durability 

Clothing alterations 

  • That ski jacket not quite fit you right? Those hiking pants a little long? Megan can make those second hand finds fit you perfectly.

Not sure if your gear can be repaired? Email us at jankygear@gmail.com with pictures of the damage! Megan will assess your items and provide personalized recommendations for repairs. We can help with:

  2. Drop Off Your Gear: Bring your items to our store, and let’s discuss the repairs you need.
  3. Enjoy Your Gear: Once the repairs are complete, you’ll be ready to take on your next adventure with confidence!

What to Do with Items That Can’t Be Fixed

If you have gear that’s beyond repair, don’t toss it! Consider donating it to Janky Gear. Megan will utilize fabric scraps, patches, and other materials from these items in creative ways. This could include:

  • Unique Patches: Creating one-of-a-kind patches for future repairs.
  • Repurposing Materials: Transforming unusable items into new products or accessories.
